Want to make more money in 2021?
I spoke with CNBC about some of the biggest negotiation mistakes people make in their careers, and how I increased my salary by 20,000 in my last job before I took the leap into entrepreneurship!
A few tips:
1. Whenever asked how much you want to be making, always give a range (never a specific number). This gives you wiggle room and helps you secure more than you initially would.
2. Want to move up the ladder internally? Build a business case as to why you deserve the promotion and raise you’re seeking (this should include a tangible list of everything you’ve accomplished at the company and how you’ve been a value add).
3. Don’t wait for it to fall in your lap. Be brave enough to advocate for yourself and also take risks. If you don’t see earning potential in your current job, it may be time to look elsewhere.
